CNN Article on Da Vinci Code facts...

Goes into into details about about specific points like when Jesus's divinity was decided, possible marriage, and how books of the New Testament were chosen.

Interesting stuff. If these scholars are to be believe, Brown makes a lot of claims (as facts,not fiction) that historical data doesn't back up...

Of course the Da Vinci code is not backed by history. Not only is it a fictional story, but it is a fictional story based off of a religious tradition which in turn is not backed by historical evidence.

Yeah, that's a kinda screwy, cause since my friend sent me the link I've done a little research, and the "facts" he's claim to have made in the book at various points have been disproven, but he still clings to them as being actual facts, and that they happened.
