King Kong (new one)

I just recently saw this on the dish. It's a lot better than I thought it would be. It had a great old-style feel to it but still had some spectacular special effects (the fight scene between Kong and the Rexes was AWESOME). It was a great homage film and a pretty well done remake, IMO.

But I can definetely see how this film would have dragged in a theatre, especially if you're expecting some kick-ass stuff in the beginning. It took what, an hour to get to Kong? At home, sitting on your couch, it's not so bad, but in the theater, it could definetely drag. They should have cut out a bit in the beginning, say 20 minutes, then made the extended for the home version, like Lord of the Rings. Would have made the pacing much better for theatre watching. I like it where it is now, but it would have definetely been a drag in the theatre.

Hmmmm, I really want to see this one. The idea of King Kong didn't interest me, but it seems that a lot of very good things have been said about the movie.

It definitely did drag in the theatre, Zoos. And not just the exposition, but the last half hour as well. I was crawling out of my skin while waiting for Kong to fucking fall and I wasn't the only one in the theatre irritated. Aside from some cool swatting at planes action, that whole last 20 minutes-or-so felt like an hour of unnecessarily long weepy mugshots and CG masturbation. Dead Alive owns this movie.

I did enjoy almost every bit of the movie that took place on the island except for that shitty Kong/Watts juggling/tumbling scene.

Really? I actually liked the whole ending. We all know he's going to fall, but I thought they had built up enough of the character in the beast that it flowed well.

Yeah, that whole tumbling scene was Ished (retarded) XD ( I keed, Ish). It was a poor way to try and build the Kong character (the fight scenes and reactions to what was going on was good enough) and the "chemistry" between him and Darroway. The movie could have done without it completely.

Oh you'll pay for that you damn dirty 'nuk.

As far as King Kong, the only part I really enjoyed was (some of) the stuff on the island. I was ready to get up and go by the end of this thing too.

I have no idea why Peter Jackson was in such a tissy to remake this thing, but he deserved a vanity project after the greatness of LotR.

Let's hope they get The Hobbit off the ground for him
