It begins with Luke watching the battle between the Star Destroyer and the Blockade Runner from Tatooine, as well as the fabled Toshi Station. I remember seeing pictures from some of these scenes in my sister's old Star Wars picture book from the 70's, but I never thought that I would get to see the actual footage.

Aside from showing a little more of Luke and Bigg's friendship, it doesn't really add much. Taking it out really improved the pace of the film.
That said, it'll be cool if they included a cleaned up version of this on a DVD as a deleted scene, rather than spliced into the film so they can rerelease it as a new Star Wars Super Special Limited Edition Unrated Director's Cut.

The link is broken, but it seems that there is tons of deleted stuff on Youtube from all of the movies (search Star Wars Deleted Scenes). I watched a 12 minute long video of A New Hope, there were scenes from tatooine, including that ship battle. There was also a scene where the death star destroys a planet (with no effects, it just dissapears), most of them were from a bar on Tatooine, and Obi-wan pulled out his light saber to threaten some bar trash. Then there were some scenes between Obi-Wan and Darth as well as some story stuff from the opening credits that was changed.

Hey, Lord of the Rings became extremely popular due to the movies. There's a lot of high budget games and such coming out all the time. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find people now who are real fans of Tolkien's works, people who claim to be fans now are a dime every six dozen. The hardcore fans seem to have really dissappeared, and now it's just millions of poser fans =P

It is strange, it used to be very easy to find a lot of great Tolkien fan stuff, but now that it has hit the mainstream again, it is difficult to find much of anything. I suppose the same thing happened with Starwars in recent years.

Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and X-Men. Lord of the Rings, in particular, is everything the new Star Wars is not.
