This would be one case where I don't mind if the Anime just ignored anything that happened in the manga and kept L alive, because N/M are totally dumb. Tune down the near psychic level of deduction Kira/L have would be a good change too.

Just about everybody is hoping L stays around longer.

I'm personally an enormous fan of Z, that letter definetely gets the short end of the stick

At the rate the letters appear, Z would be on schedule to appear on Death Note Part 8, assuming there isn't a second W.
