Easily the absolute worst dub to ever be produced. I'm not sure when I got the label as a dub hater around here. >_> <_< Because I enjoyed Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, DBZ, etc. But this dub was just so beyond horrible, I couldn't handle watching it at all. It was PAINFUL to watch, it as as painful to watch as Sony's fake PSP website.

Frighteningly enough, I personally find the Bleach dub to be far worse in terms of voice acting.

I see no problem with the Bleach dub. I've been watching that on Adult Swim since the beginning.

Same, nothing compares to One Piece.

I still watch Bleach Subbed and Dubbed...I will admit I like the Japanese voice acting better, but the English ones are growing on me.

It's hard when you've spent 80-100 episodes on a series and then rewatch it with totally different voices.

I am sorry but I cant stand the Bleach dub. Most of the voices to me just sound way too off.

How does Naruto not be nominated for worst dub? it's awful. Are the others THAT bad?

In all honesty, there are worse dubs than Naruto. Pretty much any older anime, or unpopular anime is worse than Naruto. In some spots, Naruto is actually pretty decent in voice acting, but it's the main character's dubbing that grates my nerves.

And have you ever seen a dub of a movie in Spanish? Totally awful.

I've always felt that dubbing has gotten worse over the years, not better. Older stuff like Ranma (only seen very little), Akira (original dub, not that awful new one), and Robotech has pretty good dubbing whereas the new stuff seems forced. Maybe I didn't see enough older stuff, but it just seems better to me.

When it comes to the content of most dubs nowadays they actually try not to butcher the translations, and they keep the original sayings, jokes, puns, etc.

Only problem comes in when they're gettings these voice actors, and they penny pinch, or just get a voice that's off from the original. Like what's been said, if you've heard the original voice and you heard a new VA's, you might hold it against them for sounding the way they do. If you're totally ignorant of the original voice and the new actors sounds fine, you won't have a problem with it.

I for instance heard Spike/Goku/Vash before I ever heard their Japanese counterparts, and I actually LIKED them better for it. Naruto however, sounds EXTREMELY weird.

One Piece on the other hand, was just horrible from start to finish, it's one of those dubs you look at and you think "Well shit, I wanna see the original to see how much these fuckers butchered it".

See, I think it's a money thing, too. I mean, you have better translaters and voice actors now, why shouldn't it be better? They're just paying for the people who sound a certain way and can speak English without determining how good/bad they are.

I do agree that how you hear it first affects your opinion, but I can look at Thundercats and say "that sounds silly". Akira and Robotech sound good even by today's standards of voice acting.

It's has to do a lot about money. Anime wasn't as popular then as it is now, so they are spending money on decent voice actors.
