Awesome, awesome movie. Taut, raw, gritty and bad-ass--just the way a Western should be, and we have been in SORE need of a good Western for a long time now. Christian Bale shows us why the hell we give a damn about 'im, and Russell Crowe reminds us why we always will.
They have such great on-screen dyanism it's incredible, and the story itself is rife with symbolism, foreshadowing, and a great collection of characters--ranging from sympathetic to terrifying.
Plus, the pilot dude from Serenity is in it. Great, great movie.

He WAS in Knocked Up! That's who that girl's boss was!
I like him. He's an easily lovable character on-screen, and he's easily the most sympathetic character in all of 3-10, with the exception of Dan (Christian Bale).

Nope. I love these new style westerns. I still need to catch 3:10.

Good, but not spectacular. Certainly a solid western. I'm not sure about the believability of Crowe's character. His motivations seems so inconsistent, and the only way I can come up with a rationale for them, it's almost cheesy. Basically, he would have to be completely won over by Dan's character: his honesty, conviction, bravery, and reliability. That rather goes against his established character, which is basically that of a sociopath. But even if we assume he was won over, then get on the train by choice?
It's still good to watch and even think about, even if I can't make it internally consistent. And it would be very fun to see the same movie, but with Crowe and Bale switching roles. Each could easily play the other's character, and that would be a fascinating study. Someone should do a movie like that, in fact. Face/Off is the closest there is, but that's part of the story itself, and it's not a good movie.

They do that sort of stuff on stage a bunch.
And the reasoning IS rather cheesy, but if you notice, at the end, Crowe whistles for the horse, alluding to the fact that, since he kept his word to Dan, he could/would escape from Yuma whenever he wanted.
