I was there on that fateful day, were you?
Scariest thing about Aliens was you never fucking saw the things in the first 2 movies. They would blend in their environments, strike from the shadows, cause confusion and hysteria, and when people finally settled down, there was an uneasy feeling that they were being stalked.
That was what made the original movies scary in the first place. You didn't see the first Alien in Aliens(2) until like 30-40 minutes into the movie, and there was tension built up to that point. It was a glorious thing to see these marines, with all their technology and training get ripped apart because they didn't know what they were getting themselves into.
Alien 3 really screwed the series up, because they went backwards instead of forward, with the 1 alien vs unarmed people, and after Aliens(2) people found that boring, so they went all action packed for 4, and eliminated all of the suspense, since then it's just been an action movie series.
So great, we have a Predalien, how much screen time is it gonna get that completely numbs me to the fact this is supposed to be a scary monster? The trailer had it all gory and shit, the most real gore in the original movies was the chest bursting scenes, it was hardly ever over the top. When will they get that gore/violence didn't make it great, but the suspense and unease the characters felt did.
