This movie, take a girl to see it and you're pretty much guaranteed action, on top of that though, I found this to be a very very enjoyable film. The love story involved is similar to most of those you'll see on the screen (in everything from Spiderman to American Pie to everything else out there; you can't simplify this as just a love story though), though this one takes place in the 1960's covering many of the different groups of people. There was the preppy student who went to war as his "patriotic duty to the country" and then there were the guys who didn't want to go. The story focusses on a young man named Jude (all the character names are taken from Beatles songs) who leaves his home in Liverpool England to travel to Princeton to find his father who had served in England during the Second World War. There he meets up with a jaded University student who likes to party, Maxwell. They become good drinking and smoking (weed) friends. They go back for Thanksgiving to Maxwell's place, and Jude meets his sister Lucy who becomes the focus of the story as the main female character.

The movie uses the music very well during the song sequences, like a portion when Jude goes on a rampage beating up a bunch of fake hippies while singing the song Revolution (you know, the kind that act extremely radical, but only weakly believe in the cause and more or less use radicalism as a platform for getting chicks, like Jude's girlfriend). Strawberry fields forever to describe the deaths of the soldiers across the battlefields where one of the other main characters is currently serving.

It pulls no stops on the drug side of the Beatles culture either, having a lot of LSD influenced scenes, like this one focussing on Bono as a musician from LA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5taeMA7d3E

This is very very easily the best movie I have seen this year, and one of the top 10 movies I think I have ever seen. Up there with American Beauty. If you don't see tis movie, you're depriving yourself =P
