This company does nothing but straight to DVD copycat movies. Check out "I am Omega", I'm very disappointed that it stars the Chairman from Iron Chef America.

Haha, Alien vs Hunter. How do they get money to make this shit? I'd like to see one, just to check out the cheesy'ness.

Probably for that very reason. I also see these movies on our OnDemand..I'm sure there are lots of people out there that buy the movies to watch thinking they're the real movie.

Ah, they're the ones who did Snakes on a Train.

If you noticed, the I Am Omega came out before I Am Legend. Maybe they're trying to play off the book on that one?

Kinda smart if you keep it within a budget. Take the hype of a big movie, make a blatant rip-off, trick some people, and catch some others who are just curious or drawn in by the hype of the original. $10M ain't that hard to recoup anymore. And we're talking about zero marketing budget. And as we've seen with the American Pie, National Lampoon, and Bring It On series', you can make tons of money on straight to DVD flicks.

I think these guys should be stabbed in the ass. They are profiting from people who accidentally see a title and think that it's the real thing.

"Hey, what the hell was the name of that one film with SLJ on it? Oh yeah, here it is, Snakes on a Train."
*hits play on OnDemand*
"Fuck, this isn't it, and I just wasted $4 on this shit!"

It's almost as bad as people who go to the wrong domain because they spelled it wrong. (The most famous one, which is no longer there, is the whitehouse.com porn site.)

I don't have a problem with things like the porn titles with the similar movie names, because nobody is being deceived. It's just a funny title.

Some chick i was dating fell for that very thing! I was on the way over and she ordered Zodiac from onDemand and paused it, but when i got there and we watched 10 min, it was obviously not wha we thought. I think the title she bought was Curse of the Zodiac or some shit.

We just ate pizza and had sex instead.

I've seen that one before. It has the EXACT SAME TITLE on OnDemand! I don't understand how they get away with it, considering the real movie owners could just sue their asses off.

If you make something cheesy enough you can just say it was a satire/parody and that usually clears you from any imitation issues.

Parody is a precident, not actual law, so it's shaker than you think. Also, so many good parodies have been victim of lawsuits, anyway.

Parody isn't an immunity to copy whatever you want but it is certainly better than not doing anything. If you want to sell something call Spider-like Man you'd have no chance of even getting it started if it's not a parody.

Parodies fall under Fair Use.

Yeah, and we all know how quickly "Fair Use" gets redefined...
