Hey, that was pretty awesome. I actually like this guy--he's got some pretty smart rhymes, despite how minimalistic the beat was.

Are his albums any good?

Too much focus on the lyrics, not enough focus on the beats. Remember, it's not music unless it has.... ummmm.... music.

I kinda wish more hip-hop had lyrical integrity.

Yeah, but you also have the artists that are excellent at saying nothing: Beck, Underworld, Soul Coughing. Mike Doughty is a goddamn genius at his avant-garde style of pulling whatever the fuck he wants out of his head and making it sound good.

But, at the same time, the rest of the music flows really well with the stream of lyrics. After all, if you just turn on a beat machine and saying shit, it's just talking, no matter how good the lyrics are.
