I was expecting a bad movie due to the reviews, but I quite enjoyed this one. It was a prequel of the original classic, released straight to DVD. While the movie was a 2005 movie, it feels more like an early 90's film, which isn't necessarilly a bad thing. This one deals heavily with Spanish Harlem, and the rivalry between the Italians and the Black gangs (led by Puffy) on either side. Since it takes place in the 60's there is a lot of racism. Essentially, Carlito and his gang are caught in the middle of this Italian/Black rivalry. I would call it a cross between Goodfellas, and perhaps Blow.

Highly recommended to those who were fans of the original, or mob movies in general. Not recommended for film geek/nazi types who can't understand why Pacino isn't playing a 20-30 year old Carlito in this one.
