Finally finished Y. I went to book 9, and I couldn't sleep, so I woke back up and read the last one.

First of all, I really wish you hadn't said anything about #58, Chris. I had that in the back of my mind the whole time, and while I didn't quite predict what would happen, I knew somebody was going to die.

Anyway, I'm still trying to sort through the love triangles here. Not what they are, but just that it seemed that I should feel differently about them. I'm not bitching about the ending, just about how my expectations might have dulled my impression of the ending. I fully expected Yorick to come back to Beth DeVille after the argument. I just felt that they broke off too fast, and despite the bombshell she dropped on him, it didn't seem right to have him bouncing to 355 as fast as he did. It sure was sad to see her die (and right after she told him his name, as if what Alter practiced with her name applied more to 355).

I was just expecting Beth to die, like all of the foreshadowing implied. Heck, he even ended up marrying the second Beth, and Beth DeVille ended up with Hero. I was NOT expecting that at all.

Overall, a fantastic series, though. It's interesting how the different exploration of sexualities play out. Ciba, who was in love with two guys. Dr. Mann and Rose. And of course, Yorick's constant battle with love in all of the wrong places.

The characters were important in the series, and I like how they had a lot of backstory to explain how they got there. The grave chick's was interesting, and it's neat seeing how Yorick affected the lives of all of these women, even if many of them died shortly afterwards.

The epilogue sorta reminded me of Six Feet Under's ending, in a way. Brought about a good closure to the series, and the almost eerie look at all of the women he had contact with becoming immortalized as clones in human society.
