Hey I think that's pretty cool. Viz is going to start doing what the fansubbers do, so DB is doing the honorable thing and stepping aside. That's really great imo.

The dub still sucks. I wish they cared more about that.

You can pay to see the stream after it airs, great, I imagine it'll be subbed or it'll kind of defeat the purpose. :P

Way to stay on topic there Sine... and most dubs don't suck these days anyway (kid-ized anime like Naruto, DBZ don't count; that's a totally different problem)

I believe I was staying on topic, since the topics are Naruto, fansubs, Viz, and DB.

And that's what I mean. I've been a big supporter of modern dubs, but Naruto's was really taking a step backwards. Some of the voices work, but the ones that don't are just grating (including/especially Naruto).

Believe it

Oh, yeah, that too. It was a useless phrase. Treat it as one.

We're talking about fansubbing, not dubbing, and the first time I read this I assumed you were talking about dubbing in general, not just Naruto. As I mentioned, "kidifying" anime is a totally different story; it's not poor dubbing, it's a poor decision to retool a story to an audience it wasn't written for. The end result may be the same, but it's a very different issue to address.

Just because you try to take a show that was designed for Japanese 10yo kids, and make it into something for American 10yo kids, doesn't mean they get to slack off on the dubbing.

They DIDN'T slack off, they did it on purpose! They dumbed down the plots and "adjusted" the slang/grammar. It's not poor dubbing, it's intentional dumbing down of the show because Japanese 10 year olds aren't the same as American 10 year olds.

So, they gave Naruto a smoker's lung on purpose?

Good news is it'll be free streaming for one week per ep. I'd still prefer to download but this will do for now (as long as I can watch it on the Wii).

Will I be able to watch a bunch of episodes at a time? This is great and all, but some people don't want to watch them right away.

From what that article (with the Kupek nightmare link) says, it seems like they'll be available for a week and then switch over to the next episode. I didn't see anything regarding archived episodes so I'm not sure

But I still wanna download them regardless. I watch this stuff on my TV through my 360 and also like to occasionally go back to them. So I'll be looking for another source to download even if I watch them weekly on the official site.

Dude, it's Naruto... just give it up. The orange jumpsuit freak jumped the shark back around episode 120 and at this point it's painfully clear he's not making a comeback. It's time to let him go ;)

I'm enough of a masochist that I waited around long enough for it to get good again. And dammit, I ain't gonna lose it now!
