Future Shippuuden downloads

As NarutoFan (there ya go, Kup) pointed out, there's a new group called HorribleSubs which is releasing within about a day of Japan airing if I'm not mistaken. And they're releasing in both 480p and 1080p. However, there's a few issues:

1) They're in mkv format. So those of us who like to stream through the 360 won't be able to turn the subs on

2) If they're in mkv, it's actually pretty likely TVersity won't even play it at all.

3) My cousins watch it and they told me it's a pretty literal translation. Definitely not the quality of Dattebayo or AonE before them

I did a bit of digging last night and found another group called Taka that also releases within a couple of days. Their release is the same size as the 1080p HorribleSubs one but it's in 720p. I'm downloading the 480p HorribleSubs and 720p Taka ones and gonna test them out. I'll let you guys know what I find.

Or you know you could actually support Viz's undertaking of official subs on their website. :)

http://naruto.viz.com/

It's all free.

2 reasons why I can't/won't:

1) I actually do keep them and like to watch them on the 360
2) Even if I downloaded them I would still watch them online if I could.....but I can't. You didn't read the post on Narutofan did you? Us Canadians are screwed when it comes to the "official" releases so we couldn't support it even if we wanted to

BTW, I'm sticking to the Taka releases. Much better subbing and like I figured, the HorribleSubs ones don't have subs through TVersity.

MKV is an awesome format for anime, especially for dual dub/sub releases. Just watched Noein on dub, and it was pretty good. And if you don't like the dub, you can just switch back very easily. There's also multiple subtitle capability for multiple sub groups.

You guys just need to get VLC Player. It works for everything.

If you have problems with VLC then the most often recommended player for MKVs is Media Player Classic. For some reason VLC crashes constantly for me and doesn['t display subtitles correctly. I'[ve had multiple series where for some reason VLC would display both lines on top of each other when two characters were talking (or quick dialog) and it was impossible to read. The fix on the forum post was "Get Media Player Classic"

But yeah I've preferred the MKV format for years and it's good that it's finally seeing some use

I use Zoom Player myself. It's very compatible with just about everything. Need to get it off Pirate Bay to get the non-locked version though.

DivX just announced they're going to be supporting MKV and H.264 in DivX 7

http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid ... 13/1414245

And as far as the actual post goes... if you're still watching Narshito (see? just as stupid as M$) you have bigger problems that fansubbing / 360 support won't fix. Just can't pull yourself away from an anime that crams a 20 minute battle into 6 episodes, huh?

Not if you're streaming through your 360 it ain't. Besides, I only want Eng subs on, I never want another option. I'd prefer it in xvid myself

Hey, now, this isn't Narutoball Z or anything. Compare it to DragonBall or Bleach and Naruto's battles move at a break-neck pace. I actually hate super-long battles, 2 to 3 eps at most for me. That's why I never really got into Dragonbore.

Naruto's gotten real good again (currently inner-ep filler aside). It was hanging on for a while from about ep 10 to 40 or so (filler wasn't stretched, it was just filler) as they stretched the shit out of it but it's great again. Bleach is OK and I still watch it every week. What other regularly-running series is there?

And the best way to insult Naruto is actually to call its fans Narutards. Craputo is the next best one but not nearly as good.

If I didn't have a PC how would I stream to my 360?

Yeah, I figured it was that (haven't actually seen it yet, it's still downloading; I actually like a lot of their trolls :-). That's actually what I was bitching about, them still trying to troll people who are still lurking hoping they're joking.

HorribleSub(Raw)'s release are the "official" Viz sub.

When they do is they grab the stream from Viz's release on CrunchyRoll, rip the subs off it if they are softsubbed, before remuxing them onto another raw.

If they are hardsubbed, they'll just reencode the stream and release it.

This apply to every release by HorribleSub.

Naruto don't air in 1080p, those releases are a troll.

Holy shit, this is a blast from the past. How the heck you been Garford?

I didn't like the HorribleSubs translation anyways. Very literal and just not good. I never really noticed much of a difference between the 720p and the 480p so I just wait the extra day or so for Taka to release their 480p and keep that one. Just not worth the extra HD space for the larger releases.

BTW, this guy has a very similar signature to you. You don't happen to know who it is, do you?
