Wow.. that was kind of a cop out having Pain revive a lot of the fallen ninjas in the Konoha village. I thought Kakashi's death was anti-climactic in the first place... so I guess it made sense to bring a lot of them back.

It was a cop out, plain and simple.

If there is no flashback, then you didn't really die in Naruto. This is superseded by the law of 'looking into statues of past ninjas', though, as that always gets you killed.
