Red Dragon

Very good movie with a very cast.

It falls short Silence of the Lambs though. These are mostly the faults of the scenes and plot. It had fewer of those creepy/thrilling scenes, and the music was a little off in my opinion. A lot of this had to do with the fact that the viewer knew much more about Red Dragon than they did about Buffalo Bill - where he was, who he would target, etc... Not to say that the character was bad - he was a great character and very very well acted (he outdid Hannibal in the creep/dangerous factor)- Think Jimmy Conway towards the end of Goodfellas mixed with Smeagol/Gollum. You have him sometimes in his shy form and others in his Red Dragon form, and he speaks to himself; and also gets the same pity of a childlike creature (I didn't pick up on this when I saw it in theatres). Yet all the same, Edward Norton didn't feel in danger most of the time like Jodie Foster.

Edward Norton's character matched Jodor Foster in terms of acting; but his scenes were much less interesting. Again, as a result of the film. He acted the part flawlessly.

Good film overall, that falls shor of greatness; a fantastic cast and fantasticly acted; the story was just not as good as Silence of the Lambs - and striking that kind of gold in a prequel is a little much to ask for when movies like Silence of the Lambs are a rare rare commodity even when considering all films.

You didn't note that when I reviewed Silence of the Lambs a few months back almost 20 years late =P

Anyway, I was hoping for a little response on this one, particularly considering that Anthony Hopkins, Edward Norton, and Ralph Fiennes have a bit of a fanbase around here.

I always think of that as an Event Horizon quote. Sam Neil still haunts my dreams a little with that movie, haha.
