Saint Seiya

I remember seeing one guy's analysis of Saint Seiya is that we'll all be talking about how dumb everything Saint Seiya is if anything in it ever made sense (because everything else doesn't). Instead Kurumada gets around the problem by making sure nothing ever made sense so you can't complain about consistency. Well the prequel for Saint Seiya demonstrates why once again, even by manga standards, this is truly something that doesn't make sense. You got this fight, A versus B. A is sitting on a chair with his arms folded, and he's saying he doesn't even need to get up from his chair and B won't make it 3 steps from where he is. B answers that in that case if he got more than 3 steps in then A is totally dead. So B walks up 3.5 steps and gets sent flying, and observer C confirmed that B is indeed no match for A. But A is impressed that B made it past 3 steps, so he got out of chair and decided it's time to unleash his true power. But B reminded A that he said if he gets past 3 steps then A's dead, so he punches A once and A dies. The end. No it's not like he has some special power that's related to what he said. He didn't try to sneak in an attack walking up there. All he did was walk up 3.5 steps and then got beaten like a rag doll, but he won because he said so!

Unlike most authors, Kuramada doesn't make any apologies when he needs a money grab title. It's literally like guys I need some money, here's some drawing of some people and what they say may or may not mean anything. Thanks for the money. Here's a guy who would probably think those Anime filler you see in just about everything is a great idea. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the filler for the origianl Saint Seiya anime was his idea. When I saw the OAV for Seiya versus Jesus it took me a while to realize that it wasn't actually real!
