Hobbit: McKellen returns as Gandalf, Peter Jackson directing

* Shooting for the Hobbit begins in February 2011, in New Zealand and is expected to take over a year. (note, there was fear that the project would be filmed in Eastern Europe until just the last couple of weeks).
* Peter Jackson will produce and direct the film
* Ian McKellen's blog indicated that he is returning as gandalf, although the official announcement will probably hit next week.
* So far all but three of the Dwarves have been cast.
* Film will be in 3D
