This isn't Star Trek 3. It's an authorized fan funded film created by cast and crew of the original Star Trek series, DS9, Voyager, and the new film franchise.

Some of the noteworthy Sci-Fi/series actors on the cast:
1. Captain Lexxa Singh - If she looked familiar, she is played by the actress who played Eve, daughter of Xena in the later portions of the series.
2. Admiral Pavel Chekov - played by Walter Koenig from the original series; he also played a major villain in Babylon 5.
3. Tuvok - played by Tim Russ from Voyager
4. Dr. Lucien - Played by Sean Young, played the Replicant Rachael from Bladerunner
5. Captain Alvarez - Played by Corin Nemec, who played Jonas Quinn in Stargate SG-1, he was Daniel Jackson's replacement during season 6.
6. Icheb - Played by Manu Intirayme, a former Borg drone on Voyager.
7. Dr. Lewis Zimmerman - Played by Robert Picardo, played the EMH/Doctor on Voyager, and Zimmerman in DS9 and Voyager.
8. Admiral Paris - Richard Herd - Played Admiral Paris on Voyager, and while non-sci-Fi, probably better known as Mr. Wilhelm on Seinfeld, George's supervisor on the New York Yankees.
9. Admiral Staterlee - Herbert Jefferson Jr. who played Boomer in the original Battlestar Galactica franchise.
10. Malbon - Jasopn Matthew Smith, plays the bully Starfleet cadet in the new Star Trek film series who gets the name "Cupcake" from Kirk.

The story involves the re-creation of Section 31, Starfleet's version of the CIA, and in Star Trek =- the Cardassian Obsidian Order, and the Romulan Tal Shiar. They are investigating an attack on the Federation's sources of dilithium crystals; these planets have been surrounded by spacetime folding which effectively isolates them from the rest of the universe.

If the film looks very low budget, it is at only around $370,000. Or roughly 1/3rd the budget of 2 Headed Shark Attack. Although cast and crew are working for free.

I love the cast. I have my eye on this movie. It's basically the best case scenario of crowd funded fan movies.

Well, the best case would be a kickstarter that made $2-3 million dollars, but yeah, that's not bad. The sound production values seems like they are lacking, but not bad for $370K.
