Love Live and One Piece

So I was reading this news about how the author of One Piece went to a temple in Japan and found out there was a promotional tie in with Love Live and posted something like "WTF???" and this apparently led to some kind of fan war. Now, I have never even heard of Love Live prior to this incident, and I'm not sure how fans of two different anime/manga is supposed to settle their difference, but this got to be one of the biggest mismatch ever. It'd be like CATS from Zerowing trying to take on Cloud Strife and Link at the same time in GameFAQS favorite character poll or something. One Piece is like the Illuminati of Anime/Manga. It's like the scene in back to the future where Marty asks Biff what about the police and Biff says he owns the police. I'm not saying there's no place for scantily clad under-aged high school girls in Anime fandom, but it'd take more than that to take down the Emperor Oda's Evil Empire.

I would suggest that a series that's unabashedly about waifus is higher up on my "List of Respect" so-to-speak than a never-ending tale about a rubbery jackass. But I would also imagine that One Piece's fanbase is at least 5+ times as large as Love Live. I mean, you can make eye contact with someone while saying you like One Piece. That's a BIG win for One Piece lol.

Even Prince of fucking Tennis ended and you can play that's a story that could have gone on forever.

I think One Piece was said to be about halfway done when it was on volume 70 or something.

I don't particularly like One Piece but I'm pretty sure they own the Anime/Manga world, just like Biff does in Back to the Future 2.

I enjoyed the 'where's Sanji?' minigame in the recent arc, and the photoshops for some of the recent OP stuff is pretty funny on the Chinese boards, like the one where Luffy goes, "If you're someone who possibly can't defeat Doflamingo, please go and pointless fight him to buy me some time. If you're one of the ten guys who can beat Doflamingo, go err... push the bird cage, I guess."

I gave up on One Piece VERY early. I basically caught up to what was released, realized I didn't care enough about the series to follow new releases, and moved on. He finished a major story arc and jumped right into something else that seemed like it could take over a year of volumes to get through - with absolutely no end in sight. I just don't like stories that are written with no end in mind when it comes to manga/books/anime. I... don't know why this doesn't bother me more in television.

Supernatural is a good example of a television show that will clearly go on for the immediate future (the channel boss says that if it continues like it has with ratings that this will be the case, as long as the two leads are down with it) and has no certain end in mind - and I actually like that about it.

I think it might have something to do with something having been written in an inherently childish way. Bleach/Naruto/One Piece are geared towards teenagers but everyone who was one when they started is a fucking adult now - but from what I've seen the series have hardly grown out of being for adolescents... Which I can't really fault them for (if I was an author, I'd strike the gold mine too) but as a reader - fuck that.
