Arrival, overrated alien movie

It's a simple story, stretched out over two hours. A poorly hidden timeline twist that you'll figure out an hour before you're supposed to; and the payoff is a tacked on bit of drama that has almost nothing to do with the main plot.
It was bloated with subplots and moody atmospheric shots, lots of deliberate vagueness, and scenes that felt redundant and unnecessary: and this was the disguise the filmmakers tried to put on to give the appearance of depth to what was nothing more than shallowness.
That's what I took away from it at least, although film critics LOVE it!
