<div style='font: 10pt Arial, Modern; text-align: left; '>Yesterday I watched Gladiator for the first time and found out plot is not always everything in a movie. I don't know if it is my eye sight of the TV but Gladiator looked horrible on VHS. This could be because I've been spoiled by DVD in all of it's greatness, but in any case, good movie, may get it on DVD sometime.</div>

I got Gladiator DVD.. never saw it on VHS

There shouldn't be THAT much of a difference from DVD to VHS, I mean it's noticable, but it shouldn't spoil your experience (given you are on a decent TV with a pretty good VCR).
Of course the appearance of the movie means a lot</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Arial, Modern; text-align: left; '>Well,if you don't watch in letterbox and if you choose to not listen with digital sound on... and your tv is a 13" black and white... then you probably can't tell...</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "arial narrow", Modern; text-align: left; padding: 0% 5% 0% 5%; '>Well it just happens that people often watch videos on regular sized screens, while people tend to watch DVDs on a huge-ass high-def TV with surround sound. Therein lies the big difference.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt arial, Modern; text-align: left; '>I watch my DVDs on my 19 inch TV/VCR combo, and I get surround sound only because I hook my DVD player's audio to my PC surround sound speakers...I notice a tremendous difference in both video and audio quality.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "comic sans MS", Modern; text-align: left; '>Depends on the quality of the TV. Old TVs will bleed colors no matter what the player is.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt arial, Modern; text-align: left; '>I think the best part about DVD is being able to jump to scenes instantly. It's great for when you're in a stupid mood and you don't feel like sitting through 2 hours of plot to get to the fight scenes =).</div>

It's not like it's night and day, but......

<div style='font: 10pt Arial, Modern; text-align: left; '>...the opening battle scene is probably a lot better on DVD. VHS you could tell some of the stuff was overly done with computer animations, in DVD it looks a bit smoother and blends a bit better, in my opinion.</div>

I watch mine on my 17" POS monitor that is blurry as fuck in 2D windows....

<div style='font: 10pt Arial, Modern; text-align: left; '>I have to turn the contrast and brightness way down to read text because it's so blurry.</div>
