<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>I really liked the original Blade, but something about this sequel just looks way too overdone. Then again, I still don't know too much about it. But when I see a shot of Blade stepping out of a building with what appears to be an <i>entourage</i> of some kind, all carrying weapons, walking behind him, my crap-o-meter starts going off. Blade works alone unless he sees no real choice in the matter.

But hell, my fascination with vampire movies is enough to make me shell out matinee price, at least.

Resident Evil, on the other hand...Jesus. I've seen that trailer three times and it looks worse every time I watch it. Where the fuck are the zombies? Oh, sure, you show a zombie dog (which, if you've seen the trailer, gets a mighty <i>ninja-kick</i> in the head from the main character), and they sure showed enough lickers in there, but the regular, every-day zombies? I saw two shots. And they were way, way brief. Which makes me wonder if they're going to try to <i>play down</i> that portion of the movie. If so, shame.

And the Red Queen? "You're all going to die down here." Nice British accent. Bitch.

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Blade 2 I can get down with. The only way I'll get into Resident Evil is if they market it as another side story, like they did with a few of the RE novels, because nothing about that movie better TRY and be like the first game. Hell the trailer for GameCube's RE remake was better then the live one.</div>

Blah, blah, blah

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>Look, we all know that RE is going to be a big pile of shit shaped like a movie; we always <i>have</i> known it ever since they announced it's creation a millenium ago. But every <i>last</i> one of you is going to go to that theatre and pay your eight goddamn bucks and sit through it just for the sake of watching it, so you may as well just give up the bitching now.</div>

Of course we're all going to see the RE movie. We want to see our criticisms validated. It's very cathartic.

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>And I maintain that the film might have been good if Capcom had stuck with George Romero as writer and director. Romero's work may be maddeningly uneven at best, but there's hardly any question that the man is the undisputed king of zombie flicks, and Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead are two of the best horror movies ever made. His later works may pale in comparison, but I'd still stack him against Paul Anderson any day of the week.

Besides, even a bad Romero zombie movie would still have the vintage gore. No CGI, no blue screens, no blurry camera shots to obscure what's going on, just lots of good, old-fashioned karo syrup and liquid latex. Get Tom Savini to do the makeup effects and you'd already have a film that's at least 10% kickass. Better yet, make TWO versions of the film, an R-rated wuss edit for the theaters, and an unrated "director's cut" one for home release.</div>

I still think they shoud've done away with the RE title. But eh, what can you do?

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>I wish they went ahead with the original Romero screenplay. It was cheesy horror shlock at best, but at least it was zombie infested, creepy, Romero shlock, which the series was based on anyway. Not to mention it retained most of the characters and monsters from the games. Hell, I think it had all the RE1 enemies except for the Giant Spiders.

I'm not expecting much from Blade 2, just Wesley Snipes kicking some vampire ass. It was done to death in the first one, but hey, who's counting?</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>Ha. I do agree with that. Romero would have kicked this film's ass (in a positive way)</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "comic sans MS"; text-align: left; '>Last I heard, this movie was gonna be PG-13. How can a flesh eating zombie flick be PG-13??? And the trailers look to damn clean, like a Buffy episode!</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>The original script he wrote just needed to be altered slightly to fit the game. Barry being a black man, and dying for instance.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>I think it's been upgraded to R, now. Which is still insufficient for the kind of gore a serious zombie movie needs, in my opinion.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>I believe our "friend" Mr. Romero was doing a bit too much quote-unquote "Thinking on his own." Something the good people at Capcom frown on greatly.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>And I say that it's absurd to focus on these niggling details. Who cares whether Barry's black or not, or if Chris is a civilian and not a military officer? Besides, it was possible for Barry to die in RE if you played the game a certain way.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>You're going to love this: they removed him because his script was "too different from the games." After which they turned the project over to Paul Anderson, whose script has none of original characters and features a supercomputer named "Red Queen."</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>That's not the the real issue, though. What is the issue is getting that script accepted by a major movie studio. They probably thought this was a lot more marketable than a more faitful script. Sigh. Such a waste.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Doesn't quite work that way. Try to imagine cramming a 40-hour game like Final Fantasy VII into a 2-hour movie script. Besides, the two mediums are too different to simply extract a plot wholesale from a CD-ROM and cram it onto celluloid.</div>
