In Techno, there are Ambient, Drum & Bass, and Trance. (AMBIENT AND TRANCE ARE NOT THE SAME THING!)

In Classical Music, the music is played in great symphony halls.

In Techno, the music is played in clubs.

In Classical Music, a singer can be utilized.

In Techno, a singer can be dubbed into a song.

If you want a good quality techno mainstream music, look towards Chemical Bros and Crystal Method. At least they are complex, and still going strong. OTOH, you still have crappy groups like Moby and Fatboy Slim still hitting the airwaves. (Don't get me wrong, I like FBS, but I don't agree that it's complex to make.)

And with electronica having more genres than rock, and EVERYBODY in the rock/rap/metal/etc. industry experimenting with it, it's not like it's going to fade away any time soon. There's new sub-genres popping up every year. Drum & Bass is only 5-6 years old, and it's huge now. Big Beat, now the biggest mainstream sub-genre, was invented in 1995. Do you know by who? Chemical Brothers, with their first album, Exit Planet Dust. Since they've moved on to progressive house, groups like Apollo 440 and Crystal Method have picked up the mantle.

(And this isn't even the shit you hear in most raves...)</div>
