There's over an hour and a half of the Return of the king that nobody has yet seen, but it will be seen in the 4 hour and 50 minute long Extended Edition DVD.

<div style='font: 11pt "Fine Hand"; text-align: left; '>I thought it would be more than 2 hours. Unfortunately, Peter Jackson didn't film one of the last chapters. *sigh*</div>

It's a highly important Chapter in the book, and one of my favourites to finish things off, but Peter Jackson wanted to keep the focus on the Ring and not so much the going ons in Middle Earth that made up the Novel and also Tolkien's history.

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>We will get to see Saruman and the Mouth of Sauron in the EE though. Also, in the theatrical the Witchking spoke about taking care of Gandalf, a bit of that scene was shown on the two towers DVD, but it was cut from the Theatrical Edition, that too will be added back in, I am quite sure of it.

One other scene I was looking for was Aragorn confronting Sauron in a battle of the minds using the Palantir before entering the paths of the dead, it seems instead Peter Jackson decided to replace all of that with Elrond's arrival. I also kind of think that Cirith Ungol Tower was cut too short, it would have been nice to see Sam take the ring and contemplate the power he would have; and also when Frodo unknowingly used another power of the ring which invoked great fear which drove Orcs to a mad suicide.

On another note (I figure I won't make a new topic for this)

Peter Jackson now has introduced the movie watching world to Tolkien by bringing the most popular fictional work of the last century to film, next he will probably do The Hobbit, but there is so much more to Tolkiens world that can be explored and adapted to the big screen. The Second Age and the Fall of Numenor itself would make an excellent couple of movies, the story is quite interesting. There is also the tale of Turin Turambar, Beren and Luthien, Maeglin and Eol. There is so much in the lost tales that could be brought to the big screen, it would be hard to go about..... It would have to be 6 parts, and luckily, stories like Beren and Luthien, and Turin Turambar, though they are a part of a larger story, them in themselves have final endings that when read alone will leave the reader fairly satisfied, as I believe it would translate into a film. The thing about the Silmarillion and the Lost Tales are that the only constant character is Morgoth, the villain; a character which Tolkien had more information and development on than any other of his characters.</div>
