Anyone here watch Naruto?  I wasn't that impressed with it until episode 20 or so, but it's a really, really well done anime.

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Read the manga and watch the anime, both rock.</div>

It's the next Dragon Ball Z - not that they're that much alike, but I think it's definitely becoming a phenomenon. From an action standpoint it's pure genius...and btw...

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>To anyone who plans on watching them: Get them off bit torrent. Excellent fansubs there. Don't watch Chinese bootlegs, ever. I rented some the other day and the subtitles were barely intelligible.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Hehe, yeah. I bought an HK bootleg of Gunbuster at a con once. Watched about five minutes while laughing my ass off before I gave up.</div>

Yeah, the majority I've seen were the ANBU-AonE subs, which are quite nice.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Hopefully, we'll have somebody still fansubing it though, I hate fucking groups like Toriyama's World that take shit down 2 minutes after it's been licensed.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt "copperplate gothic light"; text-align: left; '>AonE will still do it, espically considering its rumored that 4Kids has the licence *cries*</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>Does the "legitimate" anime industry even care about fansubs bumping in on their business anymore?</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>When they first license it, yes. I THINK. However after time, you can still find subs of stuff like Yugioh and Inuyasha easy. Anime fansubs usually get download by about 1k-10k downloads according to BT trackers anyways. mIRC downloads I don't know. Naruto had about 25k last time I checked.</div>

Naruto reads like most generic mainstream adventure stuff but then it's not like the non mainstream stuff are any good either

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I guess it's not bad if you're looking for mainstream stuff. I haven't seen anything Anime or Manga that's truly impressive for a very long time, though.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Actually, very few series were ever good to begin with. I do follow Black Cat and Erementar Gerad for their art styles though.</div>

Anime fansub has this bizarre code of honor not to translate licensed stuff.  Of course that's about as honorable as downloading ROMs or MP3 and delete them 24 hours later

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>It's not like stuff that aren't licensed is somehow okay for you for fansubbing anyway. But people will do what they want to make themselves feel better. Heck, I still see people who believe that you can 'evaluate' MP3 or you can 'back them up' (which you can't, even if you own it) or whatever.</div>
