The Grudge was disappointing. Spoiler free. Not that it matters.

<div style='font: ; text-align: left; '>You'd think that if a director was given the chance to remake his own movie using most of the original sets and crew, but with a larger budget (and different actors), that the end result would be better than the original.

Well, I never saw the original, but it probably sucked if it was anything like the American version. All the "scares" were really cheap (they actually used the "oh, it's just a cat" bit), and the hauntings/killings were lame as hell.

The special effects was a mixed bag: sometimes decent, sometimes horrible. Remember Galadriel's transformation in Fellowship of the Ring? Well, I thought that sucked at the time. In The Grudge, however, the ghost sometimes takes on a very similar effect, and now that I think about it, Galadriel was much scarier.

It's wasn't a total loss, though. One of the Battle Royale girls was in the movie. Also was Ted Raimi, who I would say was the most entertaining performer in the movie.</div>

I just saw it, it's not nearly as bad as you make it out to be.

Compared to most movies in the genre, it is probably within the top 5-10% or so. This movie had the ceepyness factor of being stalked by a supernatural creature no matter where you went, and it was done much better than any other movie that has tried it aside from the original Candyman.

I didn't really pay attention, the special effects weren't really a major part, but they were done better than mostly all other horror flicks.

No he wasn't, it was either the sister who got chased out of work and killed in her bed or the police chief. The best part of the movie was the part that surrounded that.

What was the movie missing? I think they should have put a little more cheesyness into it, it makes horror movies entertaining; it also gives something to talk about later. This one had some stuff around the beginning, but that was it. The ending was pretty bad, I was expected a little more than that.</div>
