From what I have seen from the details and clips so far, the new additions add in something similar to what the extended edition added for The Two Towers, and that is character development. The Return of the King is already very dramatic, and has plenty of action, but the development is something which seemed to be missed. When the Extended Edition of the Two Towers came out, it didn't just add in new scenes, it improved the film significantly; it seems that this is what will happen with the Return of the King. The battle of the Pelenor Fields and surrounding events seems to be gaining the greatest share of that extra almost hour of footage. At 263 minutes, this film is a giant. The combined length of the entire film now clocks in at 682 minutes, or 11 hours and 22 minutes.

Looking back on the whole thing, I would have to say that the most memorable moment for me was sitting down for the Fellowship of the Rings the very first time. It was an hour of waiting, anticipation before the show, there was a lot of excitement all around; and anticipation. Then the previews came on, and then darkness and the introduction leading up into the Golden letters "The Lord of the Rings" on the screen, just that moment will probably be the thing I remember most throughout my life of anything that I have ever seen on the screen. Being a lifelong fan of Tolkien, it really meant a lot to me.

On the topic of the movie, it also seems they are releasing a better priced box set for the entire extended trilogy, 12 discs total. You get it 20% cheaper than if you buy all three separately. Now the question is, is it possible for one to stay awake for 12 hours of movie watching? =P</div>
