34 eps into Full Metal Alchemist now. I very much like it, although it gets a little too childish on occasion (see Major Armstrong). But a very cool premise. It has picked up a lot since Sensi Izumi showed up :-)

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Well, 40 now. I get the feeling they're dragging their feet just a little getting to the climax, but it's nothing like Naruto or Dragonbore Z with their multi-ep fights. There's definetely something to be said for series' with a definete life</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>My dissing has always been a little tongue-in-cheek. It started as a disagreement that I've had fun with over the years, mostly with Eric and Ish. As for my real opinion, I watched a few eps and found it boring and childish, but I never discounted its importance. Same with FF7....</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>You really can't watch just a few episodes. It's one of those things that you have to sorta get hooked on in order to get hooked on. Like Naruto, character development is very important in DBZ.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>But even during the first ep of Naruto, you can see that there's a little more than fluff to the show. Of the couple of eps I watched and the millions of 2 minutes clips, I never once saw anything that warranted a second look</div>

Well, of course you do. The show's 15 years old and there really wasn't any anime like it before.

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>That's exactly my point. You could probably find a lot of "flaws" with Robotech, or Lupin III, or the first issues of Spiderman as well. Here in the West we don't always get anime in the same timeframe as it was originally developed, and it annoys me when people try to directly compare those shows to newer shows to talk about how the older show sucks (especially when the newer show happens to be heavily influenced by the older). It'd be easy to talk about how stupid Lupin III is in comparison to, say, Cowboy Bebop, but it would be idiotic to do so. Cowboy Bebop has a few decades worth of superior equipment to work with, not to mention a few decades worth of new manga/anime to build from <I>including</i> the Lupin series itself.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Dragonball is the best selling manga of all time, by a large margin too over 2nd place especially consider the 2nd place has like 110+ volumes.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>I'm not comparing DB to any other anime, and I'm not knocking it because it's old. My main beef with it is that it went on for so long without evolving all that much. I don't hate it, but extended fight sequences do get repetitive after a while if they're done the same way most of the time.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>I disagree that it wasn't evolved. You can compare the fights in the Buu saga and the ones in Frieza, and it seems like Frieza's were stretched out far beyond what they should have been, especially the end battle.</div>

Well, you're not one of the people to whom my argument is directed then.

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>I mean, I'm not against people not liking DBZ. In all honesty, I don't really even like it myself anymore. What I'm against is people playing it off as just another shoddily thrown-together kiddie show and not bothering to take any sort of consideration as to when and how the show came about and the influence it's had on anime today. It's fine to dislike things, but it's foolish to dislike something simply because you don't understand it.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>The story did kinda stagnate after Frieza though. I heard Toriyama wanted to finish the series after Frieza but popular demand forced him to continue, so that might be why.</div>
