OMG OMG! such an awesome movie. The Art style the movie had from the comics was breathtaking. And from what I have read of the comics, the movie was spot on from them. Simply amazing. Acting was superb

simply put GO SEE THE DAMN MOVIE NOW!

Oh oh, but it's supposed to suck because it has too much style and looks like Dick Tracy.

Dude seriously it was all so good. But I do have to agree that Mickey Rourke stole the show, and yes Elijah Woods character was intresting as hell too. It is amazing how close the movie dialogue and the comic dialogue is. Gonna see it with my girlfriend again soon I hope.

it's not just close, it is the movie dialogue

I saw it too. Cool movie. From a technical aspect, it kinda opens a new realm, sorta like with cell shaded graphics did with video games. It was really cool how they kept the feel of the comic in the movie.

And yes, Rourke's character was the most interesting (Never thought I'd say THAT about any movie). As far as other characters, Elijah Wood's freak of nature was among the coolest. The guy was like a psychotic adolescent Wolverine.

No one said that. Andrew expressed reservations, not a conclusion.

I kid because I care :)

Seriously, I just watched it today, and I have to say that this will hopefully fuck Hollywood in the ass for not producing a movie like this sooner. Come on, Hollywood. Just bang your fucking head against the brick wall over and over again until it bleeds for ruining comic book culture for the last 20-30 years, and realize that this movie proves that you should have listened to the public when they said to make fucking accurate representations of the material. Hopefully, this will spawn a new golden age of movies.

I mean, they hired the author to co-direct the movie! How fucking brilliant is that? Imagine Frank Miller directing the Punisher (either one), or Todd McFarlane directing Spawn, or Bob Kane directing Batman. (Well, maybe one of the more current writers of Batman, like maybe the guy behind the Batman cartoon series, but I digress...)

(Oh, btw, IMDB lists this as #112 in their top 250 movies. Suck on that shit, Hollywood!)

Anyway, Elijah Wood looked fucking evil in this, and I guess that was good advice from his agent to disassociate him from the cute little hobbit image. Nick Stahl is also getting some good acting work, too. As much as I'd want to jump on the "Mickey Rourke stole the show" bandwagon, I'd have to say two things: One, who the hell is Mickey Rourke? Two, Bruce Willis and especially Clive Owen did some excellent acting and character work as well. Their contributions was nothing to sneeze at.

I'm still amazed at the amount of big stars in this one. I guess that explains the huge marketing budget on this one. Jessica's good on the eyes, though she's not exactly the star of the show, so I don't know why they have her on the cover. Oh, and Benicio Del Toro looks funny without a mostache. Josh Hartnett? Wow, he looked kinda out-of-place in the movie, but it was kinda cool, like Elijah, seeing him in a uncharacteristic role.

Great article about how the directors totally scoffed at the "rules of Hollywood" when making the film:

28 mil, looks like it'll clear the budget. ^^

It's good for a movie to go against the norms and actually succeed. Maybe we'll get a good adaptation of a video game to movie before I die.

I really liked it..but I couldnt get over the fact that the movie reeked of Kill Bill.

I did not like Josh Hartnett playing the assassin. Tiny role, but he just didnt fit.

I saw it the other way around. You can't say it reeked of kill bill when it was panel for panel taken directly from the comics.....

I have no doubt that it was directly from the comic book...but the similarities and style just seemed so similar.
