Ok I lied, Dubbed Naruto episode 4, why does he keep saying BELIEVE IT!

This is worse then that time Krillen kept saying Mondo this and Mondo that in DBZ!

*Queue DBZ Flash-back* "I'M GOING MONDO NUTS!!!!"

I thought it was a peculiarity of translation... like 'Do your best!' and stuff...

Is that their translation for "dattebayo"? Dear Lord, I hope not......

And in no way can you say that anything about Naruto even compares in a negative manner to DBZ. It's always leaps and bounds above DBZ, remember that :lol:

I'm waiting until episode 6-8. Then I'm going to witness a butchery of an anime, and never see the dubbed version again. Damn, and just when I thought we were getting past this type of L10N bullshit.

I got a feeling that is. I really noticed him saying that a lot, too, in episode 3.

I just finished the ep training before the final chunun matches and he says it constantly......man if they keep having him say that in the us version wow

Yeah, he's saying either "dattebayo" or just " 'bayo" almost every line during the Chuunin. Ugh, that would be irritating as hell

Funny that I never really notice it on the subs, because the subbers don't bother translating it.

well they translate it differently every time so it actually makes sense....unlike the dub which is horrendously grating.....

Yeah, not after a while. He uses it almost every sentence, so it was redundant for them. But you can hear it ALL the time, it's just something I picked up on after reading it all the time during the Chuunin exam.

I'm not a fan of the dub voices, they're all quite monotone (just watched ep4 dubbed). Naruto is just a loud monotone, Kakashi is a quiet monotone, and Sasuke is an angered monotone. Regardless of what they say, they sound exactly the same, just different volumes (Naruto, mainly). That's the one thing that I've always disliked about the dubs here versus the voice actors there. They at least have some depth and emotion to the voices, here they seem like they're just trying to hit it right rather than playing the character

I'm guessing he constantly says it in the English version because that's what he does in Japanese.

Not being able to understand what's going on is sometimes a blessing.
