It's Paul Anderson, same guy who did Resident Evil and Alien vs Predator

To me, this is a good thing. He's done the best game adaptation so far. Let's hope he doesn't screw this up

Aye, Doom was probably better and I haven't even seen it yet.

Anyway, this movie will suck and be rated PG-13 despite anybody's objections. It's sorta like Michael Bay saying that Scarlet Johannson can't get naked.

The first RE is, IMO, the best game-to-movie adaptation. And, unlike most, I liked the second. And Anderson made the only other universally accepted decent game-to-movie adaptation in Mortal Kombat.

Who would you rather have, Uwe Boll?

I'd rather have Peter Jackson. Or somebody GOOD.

Hahaha, Uwe Boll.

I've never seen any of his movies, but both of his game adaptations landing in the bottom 100 IMDB rankings (I'm told there was actually an audible "thud" when they did so) doesn't inspire a lot of faith in the man for me.

Why must we have a "specialist" in game-to-movie translations? Obviously, the game-to-movie "specialists" aren't working in this case. Fuck them and bring in Bruce Campbell!

Eric: I'd LOVE to have Verhoven do it, but it ain't gonna happen. At least Anderson isn't Boll and does a decent job.

Mental: Boll did U-571 (if I'm not mistaken), which was his one decent film. Then he decided he wanted to do game movies and someone mistakenly gave him the funding. They're so cheap to make that they make SOME money back, so they keep giving him more. It's a vicious cycle

Sine: it's not a specialist, but games aren't a big thing yet in Hollywood, the translation is more just starting. Look how long it took them to accept comics and now you've got decent directors for them (Ang Lee). Games will eventually come, likely within the next 10 years. Maybe then we'll see Cameron or Soderburg or Verhoven take one on.

I liked the Resident Evil Movies. I don't really care about the game story though like some people did. I found that the movie story was actually more entertaining than the story in the games.

Anyways, of course I am looking forward to a Castlevania movie. If they have the same people who put together the RE movies, then I think it is safe to say that at least the special effects and costume design will be worthy.

A Castlevania movie has a lot of potential, but in order for it not to be silly, it would need to be very dark - cinematically and thematically. I doubt they'll do that, but we'll see.

Yeah, I have been trying to work around in my head how they would make it so it wouldn't seem silly. Perhaps it can't be done without remaining entertaining to a degree. I don't mind silly movies though, some do it quite well (from my perspective), Starship Troopers comes to mind. They tried to make Final Fantasy The Spirits within serious, and (from my point of view) it was incredibly boring.

Yeah, this would be the one thing that I wouldn't demand original dialogue from.

"No, it cannot be....AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Starship Troopers sucked ass, especially after I just recently read the book. Both Final Fantasy movies suffered from writing plot that would normal work in a RPG, but is poor quality in a movie.

His Wiki article says something about a German tax loophole he abuses for write-offs that was recently plugged. Perhaps things will change soon.

Anderson can drink my piss. I don't think a Castlevania movie is a good idea in the first place, but he will undoubtedly find a way to make it horrible... or I'll drink my piss.

I refuse to see another Paul Anderson movie, the dude is a cheap action junkie, Castlevania is gonna be another Van Hellsing, but 10x worse.
