Selling my second Wii

Got our first one from somebody who was bored with it. That went to my parents several X-Mas's ago, after we were bored with it. Ended up buying another Wii last Christmas for Shellie. Bought a bunch of games like Metroid 3, Super Mario Galaxy, House of the Dead, etc. Never finished any of them, or even got halfway. The only fun games we played were the downloadables: Cave Story, FF:MLaa Dark Lord, Bit.Trip. But with the lack of any demo system, it was real hard to justify buying a game on a whim, and we already spend a lot of money on unplayed games. We tried the Wii Fit stuff, but realized we weren't going to do it much, and going to the gym is just a better use of our time.

We tried. We really tried. But, the Wiimote sucks. It doesn't lend itself to serious session play without some sort of annoyance or gameplay issue or sensitivity issue, or whatever. I know Zeus would think I'm biased or some shit, but if I was that biased, I wouldn't have spent $500+ on the console in total.

We're going to replace it with another Xbox 360 for upstairs. Actually, buying the 2nd Wii was the first time I bought two of the same console, and this 360 would be the second time.

You bought a Wii? You're the last person, and I mean, the LAST person in the world I ever expected to buy a Wii. You've been Mr. Anti-Nintendo Fanatic since 1997 at the very least. Weren't you also going on about how Nintendo betrayed you when the Wii was first released? I think I already knew you had a Wii, but it still surprises me to hear it.



Just a side note, Wii Fit: you shouldn't be considering Wii Fit as a gym replacement - but as a replacement for your morning exercise equipment (and for that purpose, there is no better piece of equipment on the market short of a $4000 rowing machine that takes up half of a room; and Wii Fit is more fun). Wii Fit is a compliment to the gym, if you can only make it to the gym once or twice a week, then Wii Fit will fill the other 5-6 days of the week (no one really wants to miss a day of exercise); although if you have 2-3 hours 6-7 days of the week to make it to the gym, then it is all you will need. There's nothing more important than physical health. In the winter, I use Wii Fit almost exclusively (I probably only get to the gym 1-2 times a month); and have found it to be excellent body maintenance. If you're just looking at weight loss, I lost ~20 pounds on Wii Fit Plus alone (no gym) last fall after I got fat over the summer. In my opinion, fitness gaming is the very best thing that happened this generation; it combines two of my favourite past times into one - I look forward to the advancements they make in the coming generation.

I've bought or played every Nintendo console. The only one I didn't spend a lot of time on (only rented) was the N64, and that was because I was disgusted with the controller after playing it. I thought that while the GameCube didn't have as many good games as the PS2, the exclusive titles that did have were really fun, like RE4 and the new Metroid Prime series. Metroid Prime 2 is still my favorite Metroid game. I only sold my GameCube recently. I still own and play my NDS, and still have a GBA.

So, you can't accuse me of not trying, or being inexperienced at the subject. Besides, in some cases, I like the games, but I hate the company and some of the decisions they make. They seem to be more focus on producing something that is first-generation innovative, rather than improving an existing idea. The problem with first-generation stuff is that nobody has discovered the design flaws or bugs yet. The N64 half-stick was terrible, and the PS2/Xbox just took that idea and made it much better. Then Nintendo made the GameCube controller like theirs. The GameCube seemed to be the only Nintendo console in recent history where they were improving their existing design, and it turned out to be a good console. Then they went back to their old habits with the Wii.

Anyway, I'm not going to re-hash old debates over and over again, since we've talked about it at length, anyway.
