$299 is my bet. It depends on the CPU and GPU power.

I'll be surprised if it costs $300 though I don't think they should go higher. I'm thinking somewhere around $350.

Edit:

Looks like we were both way low:

Gamestop has it listed for $999.99. Clearly, Gamestop knows what they are talking about and would never post a pre-order price that they made up, so this has to be legit. :)

Gamestop likes to troll, I remember when Wrath of the Lich King was announced they joke about charging $1000 and then retiring from all the rabid WoW fans that would shell out that kinda money for it. ;p

Digital Foundry have a really great breakdown of the system here.

I can't believe they've announced it so far ahead of its landing. Between now and its release date the iPhone 5, iPad 2, and 3DS will all have been released. Performance-wise the PSP2 will crush all of them, but it's going to seem like old news by the time it comes out.

This is completely Sony's MO: announced a far-more advanced, sexier, future machine just before your competitor releases their current, play-it-now-instead-of-next-year machine. It worked wonderfully with the PS2 vs Dreamcast and with the popularity of the PSP in Japan, they're hoping history will repeat itself with the 3DS

PSP wasn't doing that well in Japan until Monster Hunter 3 came out, and I'm guessing their equivalent of WoW there so it's not something to count on.

It started with MH2 and its been steadily the highest selling hardware for 90%+ of the weekly figures since then (over a year ago). It sells incredibly well in Japan year-round, just look at the weekly figures. It takes the combined DS hardware sales of all iterations to pass it and even then, they barely do.

The PSP is a force in Japan, it's just mostly ignored everywhere else in the world. And with Sony being a Japanese company facing a huge hardware release from their biggest competitor creating huge buzz, don't think for a second that the announcement of the PSP2 was strategically placed.
