So, in Japan, they get a d'load code for the original MGS (PS1) and HD versions of 2 and 3, both Subsistence editions. This means you get the extras from both collections, which includes the ROMs of Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2.

For "international" gamers, you don't get the d'load code for the original. It's replaced instead with an HD version of Peace Walker (sold separately in Japan)

So, the question is: if you care about this at all, which version would you prefer? I personally prefer our version since it ain't too hard to find a copy of the original MGS on the PS1 to play on your PS3 (or you can just buy it). I would prefer the HD version of Peace Walker. That's a game that's supposed to be as good as the PS2 ones and most will never play it.

Of course, it would be better if we got both with Portable Ops as well, allowing us to play every game in the series (not counting the Acid oddballs) on the PS3.

First of all, I'm personally always less inclined to respond to questions of " if you care...", "does(n't) anybody care...", or "AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO CARES THAT...", which you do pretty often, Zeus.

Second: Peace Walker, because I haven't played it, and never planned on playing it as long as it was only on PSP.

But really, this makes no sense at all. Why not just put 'em both in?

The reason I always say "if you care" is because I don't want the thread to be taken over by the "I don't care" responses. It's basically like saying "if you don't care, please don't clog up the thread", particularly with this board setup where 2 or 3 replies and you've already lost track of the subject

I agree with the both sentiment. It should just have MGS1 without HD since it's already available as a download, 2 and 3 with HD (since they seem to be able to have quick PS2-to-HD conversion tools that everyone's using now), and also Portable Ops and Peace Walker on there in HD. It should be complete so that you can play all of the Metal Gear games on the PS3 and get the complete storyline since you're getting the original MSX games with the Subsistence version of 3.

In Japan, they're getting Peace Walker separately since they're doing the PSP HD line. That and Monster Hunter 2 are the first ones if I remember correctly. The PSP is big there so they probably figure there's a decent market for $30 PSP re-releases on the PS3.
