I got a free month of WoW from Diablo 3 for some reason so decided to play the game again. It's amazing how bad PvP in this game is and yet people play it anyway, just because you still need the honor points. Let's forget all the imbalance issues and whatnot. The biggest problem of WoW is that they more or less force you to stay for nearly the duration of the match (20 minutes) in games where you've basically no chance of winning but you got to stick around for the award for losing. This is especially true in Warsong Gulch where you'll usually need close to the whole 20 minutes even on games where there's no way of winning/losing depending on which side of the beatdown you're on. Compared to this, SWTOR games end in 10 minutes or less when you grossly overpower the other side. Huttball can be won in under 5 minutes easily. The problem is that close games is very rare in MMORPG in general. Usually your side is either way stronger or way weaker, especially in a game like WoW where rampant twinking is available. This in itself is fine but the game should not encourage matches to drag on even when it's clear one side has absolutely no chance of winning. It probably doesn't help that WoW has some cryptic scoring system like the bases giving exponential points so that it might take a while to figure out your side has already lost.
You should try MOBA games then if you want to complain about pointless, drawn out PvP. League of Legends and DoTA 2 can be some of the most painful gaming sessions known to man. You're damn lucky if your team is smart enough to realize you have no chance and you surrender at 20 minutes (the soonest they allow you to do it)
Yet I keep playing them -_-
