  • Skies of Arcadia Legends will be released this week, since I last posted on this game, there have been numerous updates made.....

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Now, I think I made it clear that this game was my favorite RPG back two years ago when I first played it on Dreamcast. Nothing has changed since. The major problem with Dreamcast was that it was not a maintream console, and most people who had games for it had pirated them, essentially putting Sega out of business. Such a shame, Sega's own fans being their undoing...

Anyways, now the game is being released on Gamecube, and it is essentially a directors cut, or an extended version, of the original game. Developers have been able to put a lot more into this version of the game, stuff they would have liked to have done with the last version.

Starting with the Gameplay, the main changes here have been in the battle system.

1) There will be fewer battles, and each battle will yild a greater amount of experience points.

2) Battles will take less time due to the speeding of movements and such.

3) Graphically, battles have been improved upon, including the special moves by the characters, and magic, etc....

Also, the characters in the game have been improved upon graphically, many more polygons have been added to them, now their movements and shapes will be much more realistic than previous games, characters will now have separate fingers, and their facial expressions have also been improved upon.

There have been 8 new groups of black pirates added to the game, which will be much more challenging than the existing ones. There is a successively larger bounty on each groups head.

There are new kinds of fish which tie into the story somehow, if you can catch them.

There are local rumors among townsfolk now, and the player can prove or disprove them by making discoveries. There have been new discoveries added to the game, and apparently it seams they now play a larger part than they did before.

There has been much more added to the development of certain characters in the game, particularilly Ramirez, and I believe to Vyse by the descriptions I've heard. Yet a lot of this information is optional.

Ultimate weapons and other content which was accessible through the VMU or downloading has been added into the game (though Gamecube does have VMU-like GBA options, and a modem now available, Sega felt that this essentially there were better ways to incorporate these parts of the game). New bosses and and locations have been added throughout the game for these purposes.

Cupil stuff is still in the game, it's just done a different way (not sure how, possibly through the rumble features like in Zelda Ocarina of Time).

Essentially (even taking from what I have written above), many more side quests have been added to the game. They aren't just thrown in sloppily either, they all tie into the existing plots and mini-plots somehow, giving the player a broader vie of what is going on in the world.

It's a very polished version of the Dreamcast title. Apparently things run by much more smoothly and with greater detail.

All in all, this game is a sure title for me to buy this year. I already know what to expect at the very least, and it wasn't long ago. I was very satisfied by the Dreamcast version; to the point where it is still my favorite RPG after two years. There just hasn't been a game that I've played that I can remember being this fun. As I have said in the past, the game reminds me more of Chrono Trigger (somehow, even though the gameplay is different); it feels more like Chrono Trigger than Chrono Cross did. If you have a Gamecube, I would highly recommend this game as a purchase; it is one of the best RPG's (if not the best) currently available, and one of the best games on Dreamcast and Gamecube.</div>
