  • Here's the final design for the Nintendo DS

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>That looks very smooth. I just hope they don't try to force us to buy the DS and whatever the GC's successor is together to get "maximum play" or whatever.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I think only the colour scheme has changed since E3. The thing plays pretty good, like a GBA SP with two screens. I actually thought it fit better in my hands since it's wider. Everything will depend on how good they use the touch-screen. Wario Ware, Metriod, and Pac-Man Pics were awesome</div>

They made the BEST controller in the 32-bit world (wow...a D-Pad!), and they made the BEST console in the 64-bit one (four ports, built-in swappable modem, comes with web browser).</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I still think the Dreamcast is the nicest looking system ever made and it would most certainly be my system of choice if it wasn't for Sega getting screwed over by piracy; cutting the life of their system down by about 3 years.

Anyways, I was refering to the Gamegear mainly, I actually have my gamegear right here, I pick it up now and then to play. The design of the old DS looked a lot like what I would imagine the Gamegear 2 would look like.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>The price of a cartridge is dependent on the size of the game because storage space is so valuable. Tales of Phantasia retailed at around $85, but that's because it was a 48MB (!) SNES cartridge.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>But Midway also released a kick-ass collection of it's 80's arcade games on the Midway Arcade Classics collection for PS2 and GC. That's the best compilation every next to the MM games. Basically all the classic arcade games on one disc (Rampage, Defender, Dig Dug, Smash TV, etc)</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>No entirely. It's actually better on the handhelds to have carts due to less load times, size, and battery life (the latter being a key buying point). Besides, CDs are going to be obsolete soon with the advent of huge memory sticks (with 256 MB the norm now, which is why the DS can take them)</div>

 Sun Aug 01, 2004 12:16 pm
<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>No, they make a KILLING on the carts, that's why Yamauchi insisted on sticking to them for the N64 when everyone knew it was going to CDs. That's one of the things that hurt the N64, the high royalties-per-game ($33 vs about $15 for CDs, making it a much more expensive proposition to make N64 games)</div>
