  • Finally, after all these years I have finished Ogre Battle 64, at approximately 63 hours. The longest game I have ever finished. (read my post only if you know something about the Ogre Battle series, it is full of spoilers from both games)

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I really enjoy the story of this game, and the cool thing about it is that if I wanted to, I can replay all the dialogue over again without having to do any of the actual missions. I got the good ending with a Chaos Frame of 99 points (I guess I messed up somewhere and didn't get 100), 1171 game days played. I also had a large number of characters from throughout the game, which included Destin and Europea (The male and female heroes from Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen).

It has been a LONG time since I played the first Ogre Battle, but it seems that the stories link up quite well. If what I gathered is correct, Mari is actually the daughter of Rashidi (is that his name), the main villain of the last game. Also they were refering to someone who was planning this whole war all along, and I believe that might also be Rashidi from the first game, unless it is the Pope of Lodis; no name was mentioned.

How it compares with the first Ogre Battle? I found this one to be a lot more fun; but I found that chapter 4 (the final chapter) was surprisingly easy, especially when I had such a difficult time getting through Chapter 3, 2 was also more difficult. All in all, I am not too dissapointed in this, as if it got much more difficult than Chapter 3, I probably wouldn't have finished this game until the spring, but instead I could get through it relatively quickly. The final battle did seem rather difficult though, which is a good thing, I lost a few characters in it.

The unit I used to kill the end boss (which was monsterous) was led by Ankiseth, also had Destin, Debonair, Liedel, and Katrieda.

Since Quest seems to be the new Final Fantasy development team, I am not sure if they will actually get around to finishing the series. They can do it in one more game, since Ogre Battle 64 sets the stage for the final battle against Lodis and the one who is controlling everything (as I said, I believe it is Rashidi).</div>
