  • More Revolution details

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

This one seems to be more of an ex-employee ignoring his NDA. From Gamespot's Rumour Control:

RUMOR #2: One bigmouthed developer has leaked a boatload of details on the Nintendo Revolution.

Source: The forums of E-mpire.com.

The official story: "Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation."--Nintendo spokesperson.

What we heard: Hot on the heels of last week's rumor that the Revolution might include 3D technology is a rebuttal saying that it won't. It comes courtesy of an anonymous former Nintendo employee who is now developing games for his former employer's next-generation console. Besdies trashing the 3D rumors, the ex-Nintendite reveals many features about the console. He--or she--says that the Revolution will have wireless, pressure-sensitive controllers that will add a new level of force feedback. "It will be sort of like controlling a game with one of those stress balls," said the source. "You squeeze it and you go faster." The source also said that the Revolution "will also include voice control more advanced than anything seen so far" and come with wireless headsets. He also said that the Revolution will come with an online service superior to Xbox Live--but totally free. "The only way I can describe it is as an internet service," said the poster. "Imagine turning it on and checking your mail on the system. You see previews and demos of DS and Revolution games that you can download. A magazine similar to Nintendo Power will be exclusive to the system, and you will be able to access it on the Revolution’s homepage." The source also said that besides Nintendo, which has at least seven next-gen titles in development, Capcom, Namco, EA, Sega, Zoonami, and Activision are all currently working on Revolution titles. However, the poster remained coy about what the exact "Revolution" would be. "I’m not going to tell you the revolutionary aspect of the system. Nintendo has some cool pre E3 plans for that."

Bogus or not bogus?: Interesting? Most definitely. Bogus? We'll see at E3.

THAT sounds a lot better than the past rumours. These ones are also consistent to what other leaks have said (about the wireless free online connection).

But notice how they didn't actually reveal what makes it "revolutionary" but said it wasn't 3D technology? I'm wondering if this was a controller leak......

That's right, everyone! You're NOT allowed to get excited about ANYTHING that is in any way, shape, or form Nintendo-related. Sony? Fine. Microshaft? Perfect. But if you DARE actually show any interest in anything Nintendo-related in any way, you shall forever be deemed a loser, child, and traitor to your fellow Shriners.

REMEMBER THAT!

P.S. Thanks for helping me see the light, Sine :-)

Microsoft? What are you talking about? I could give two shits about Longhorn.

I'm just saying that Nintendo is very good at pre-system PR. They always talk about how this next system is going to be soooooooo revolutionary and shit hot, just so everybody would think "Well, I could get the XBox 2 when it comes out, but the new Nintendo console is going to blow it away." Of course, they haven't seen EITHER system, but the PR mojo is working for Nintendo. It really reminds me of "IT", that stupid segway machine for morons that can't walk, and their big mysterious PR campaign for something that nobody knows, but everybody cares about for some reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being something simple, or something so revolutionary that nobody would use it. (VirtuaBoy, PowerGlove, etc.)

Last year I seem to remember someone going nuts about this PS3's new processor going to run everything from TV's to toasters. Right Sine? =)

Lets be fair here...sounding awful Sega-like. Nintendo needs to trash the gimmicks and get back to a solid system and court the devs back.

Hope its not true.

Not I. You can search the archives if you want. It's all there.

I have no idea what the "revolutionary" part of the new system could be. If it's dumb, I agree, drop it.

But the stuff that has supposedly been leaked about the free online play to rival/outmatch X-Box Live sounds awesome and would be a huge selling point for the new system (well, as long as it's not strictly a 1st-party system, but online gaming could help that).

I couldn't find anything, but then again, I searched for the term "PS3" and only got two results. Who was it that was going on about the PS3's (cell) processor being able to be grouped up with other similar processors to create extra power? And that the PS3 processors would be in everything from toasters, to TV's, to just about everything? I know my memory didn't just make this up =)
