IGN reviewers choose their top 100 games

After seeing the reader's top 100, they decided to post an update on their own top 100 (last update was like 3 years ago).

Some fairly interesting picks, the one that caught my eye the most was Sid Meier's Pirates! which came in at #6.

They picked the following as their top 10:

1) Super Mario Brothers
2) Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3) Tetris
4) Sid Meier's Civilization II
5) Super Mario 64
6) Sid Meier's Pirates
7) Starcraft
Street Fighter II
9) Tie Fighter
10) Super Metroid

Their list is closer to mine in the top 10, but the readers list has A LOT more of my favourite games in their top 100. I'm just kind of upset how Sega always gets neglected in these lists when they have made some of the top games ever. Then again, Sega was never a big thing on IGN.


I wonder what a top 100 Shrine list would look like? I am certain Final Fantasy 7 would be in the top 3 at least. However, in order to make the list so that people wouldn't power play game names (like they did with the top Final Fantasy list) everyone would have to send their lists (honest lists) in private and then they would be compiled using a specific numbering system, and then to prevent any fixing of numbers, have all the individual lists posted. Hmmmmm......


If anyone is willing to do this via PM or E-mail, say in the following manner....

Send top 30 games, any additional games are disregarded, 30 games must be chosen (we have all played at least 30 different games).

1st place game gets scored 100 points
2nd place 98 pionts
3 - 96...
10 - 80
11 - 79
12 - 78
13 - 77..
30 - 60 points

I may have screwed up the math somewhere, but you get the picture... Or maybe have it set so 1 has 100 points, 3 point gap between each game 1-10, 2 point gap between each game 11-20, and 1 point gap between 21-30. If you follow.

Too many games to choose from. At least the FF poll was doable with only ten games.
