  • Fantastic DS Lite video reviews

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Don't know if you guys managed to see these or not, but a guy who snagged an import DS Lite did a series of three video reviews of the thing on his blog. Here's the kicker - they're hilarious!

If you haven't seen these yet, enjoy, and if you have, the third one is brand new.

You were actually able to get a copy of Gitaroo Man, huh? That game is tons of fun....and relatively rare too

Not sure if this is the same thing or not. But:

Very informative. Looks like the DS Lite has the brightest screen of any handheld available at the moment.

This is also an interesting addition available for the DS (at least for those into this sort of stuff): a 4GB hardrive which is already set up for various music, video, and photo formats, as well as the launching of other software applications.

I found a used copy through the Gamestop website - it's nice to search for a game simply by inputting your zip code and seeing which stores have inventory.

And while I do think that Gitaroo-Man is amusing and all, with great art direction and pretty good music (I absolutely love the Legendary Theme), there's a couple of things about it that bug me to the point of not liking it as much as I could:

-There's no visual indication of the beat, as there is/was in Parappa/UmJammer Lammy/Guitar Hero, and since they don't give you any indication of what the phrase is actually supposed to be, it's really hard to pick it up just by seeing it during either Attack or Guard.

-The Dual Shock 2 is awful for this game. Holding those analog sticks off center for any length of time will inevitably cause your thumb to slip off, and I have to jam down on the buttons to make sure that I don't let up off them even a tiny bit. My hands hurt more after playing this than they did playing GH.

-The song for the last stage is hard enough and crappy enough that it's entered the rarified company of Bark at the Moon and "Vital Idol" (UJL) of Rhythm Game Songs That I Absolutely Loathe.

Still glad I picked it up, though - it's a good game, and one of those unique titles that I like having in my collection.
