New Super-Company: Bandai and Namco merge

- Bandai and Namco announced they will merge their game departments into one unit starting on April 1, 2006. In addition the arcade and mobile game departments between the two companies will be merged at the same time. On April 1 the two companies will be merged and called Namco Bandai Games Inc. -The Magicbox
Other details:
-Namco will hold 43% to Bandai's 57% stake.
-Namco's Kyushiro Takagi will become Chairman and director of the company while Bandai's President Takeo Tasu will become the President of the company.
-Bandai is Japan's leading toymaker responsible for such things as "Tamagotchi" known for anime characters including the classic Gundam Mech series.
-Both Bandai and Namco have in recent years been in talks with Sega about merger possibilities.
-The total assets of the company will number 8.148 billion USD. In comparison, Nintendo has 10.530 billion (March 2005); Sega Sammy have 3.941 billion USD total assets (2005), Square Enix have 695.1 million USD (2003) in total assets. So quite a large company.
