And you can't have it.
I haven't even turned it on, though, so nothing really to report.

Just watched the keep-the-PS2-on-but-don't-press-start demo. I actually had tears in my eyes.
Then I turned it off. I'm going to savor for a few hours the fact that I have this entire game ahead of me.

None of the freaking stores in my area got in today! No EBs, no Gamestops, no Best Buys! Tomorrow I suppose!
I will be with you tomorrow, Mental.

Be warned - the opening movie is so good that you may explode from happiness if you're not prepared.
I actually turned it off halfway through the opening movie because my heart had reached the breaking point of goodness, and I knew I would be unable to appreciate the rest of it properly without a breather. That was about forty-five seconds ago.
I'm not going to spoil anything, but Oh My Freaking Goodness soihoaudjnlkhjiezroflmargrbostendrooooooool...

I'm still waiting for the raging torrent of "happy" neurotransmitters in my head from watching the first half of the opening to subside before I start it up again.

And I'm Ethan, who would rather be playing DS (or DS Lite, mmm). I just finished KH1 last week, and I need some time to wash the taste of that game out of my mouth before I even try *renting* KHII.
Although I've heard there's no godawful platforming in this one, so that's something to look forward to.
And it seems that you'll have to do something besides hold down the fire button to get through the Gummi Ship sections - seriously, that was all I did for every trip except the last one - so there's another bonus there too. I've heard that the new Gummi Ship sections are both a) not pointless and b) like Panzer Dragoon Orta, which is good, but they will end up being nowhere near as awesome as Orta, which is not so good.
(Note to self: Watch your back from now on, since Mental is now going to fly across the country and kill you.
Oh wait, he'll be too busy playing KHII. S'all good.
)

I picked mine up about 30 minutes ago from Best Buy. I know what you mean about staring at it, Flip.
I am taking my 19 inch TV over to my friends house so we can both play the game at the same time instead of taking turns. haha

I'm 11 hours in and all I can say is wow...holy fucking shit. I never expected the part where you play as Roxas to end the way it did.....just...the whole game...wow.

Is it that difficult just to say you are 11 hours in and it is great without adding something specific?
Was it a spoiler, no, but it is annoying to know that something AMAZING will happen 11 hours in at the end of Roxas part and that Roxas is a playable character/story arc when i didnt know that?
FUCKING YES!

Sorry i cursed at you mac, i feel bad, but i'm the kind of guy who even hates it when friends tell me, "There is a twist at the end of the movie." or, "You'll love what happens in the beginning." etc. I like no anticipation at all... CANT WAIT TO PLAY!!!

I'm not too sold on the whole anagram X guys being a good idea. To me it sounds like something from Chrono Cross where they thought it's a great idea to tear apart everything you may have liked about the previous game. That said I do have confidence in the game engine so I'll be picking it up after I'm done with Grandia 3.

That was Flip, not me. I did find the spoiler mildly annoying, but I realize that coming into contact with any public forum in between purchasing and finishing a game this wildly popular carries spoiler risks every time...I pretty much thought you were within quite acceptable spoilerish limits.

I'm going to go on the semi-acceptable spoilers-risk and say something here...and that something is that they did something I could not have dreamed possible.

What can I say, I just couldnt put the game down lol ^_^ Of course, the fact that it took me slightly less than 30 hours to play though the story was kinda unexpected. For those who consider gametime a spolier, I'm sorry.

So far, I agree with Famitsu more or less - they gave it 39/40. I'd say so far it's been the tiniest few things short of perfect. If anything, the gameplay is the tiniest bit too "busy", but maybe that changes later...the Gummi stuff still feels tacked-on plotwise, but it's so much fun I barely care. It is still rocking my fucking world.
I gotta get a better TV, though. I played it on my mom's big-screen with awesome picture tube and the game nearly took me to another fucking dimension...

I dont like the fact that is doesnt have a 16:9 video option. Radiata Stories by Sqeenix that i bought earlier this year did, so i thought it was a trend they were going to continue...
(Shadows of the Colossus had widescreen, too, KH2 fucked up)

I don't have a TV that can handle that so I'm ok with it.

For what it's worth, I'm lagging extremely much on actually playing the game because of my tendencies to play the Gummi sections over and over and over again. It might not be Panzer Dragoon Orta - then again, I never played Orta, so it might be - but it's quite good. "RPG Starfox on acid" is how I kept thinking of it the first few times I played - it's also very, very hard if you're playing on Proud Mode (KHII's equivalent of Hard).

Yeah, I'm liking the new Gummi Ship modes. It's challenging enough to try to get A's and there are goals to achieve so I don't mind replaying the levels with my upgraded ships. Plus, the ship building mode is much more intuitive, imo.

I'm trying to keep this thread free of spoilers, so I won't say anything, but I have found a strategy for Gummi stuff that's ridiculously effective...I suppose I could wait until more people have finished it before starting the "spoilered" thread, though.

AAAAAAAH SPOILERRIFIC!!!!!
Use nothing but Gravity cannons, and an optional laser or two (according to preference). Put as many power-enhancing items on as possible, and if you can afford the speed hit, multiple cockpits. Later on, use Teeny ships with more Gravity weapons in a front-formation. With Graviga cannons, the destruction wreaked by your ship is beyond ludicrous...
I have S-Ranks on almost every Mission 1 and 2 course, working on the 3's...

Spoiler based off of Nev's spoiler (highlight it):
What do the multiple cockpits do?
I know what you mean about the gravity cannons. My ship is a beast right now. haha
End Spoiler Question

End Spoiler Question
More cockpits = huge speed hit, and correspondingly huge power increase (i.e., your shots are more powerful). I've had three cockpits on a single ship, and usually it can barely move when you get that far, but two is not out of the question for a well-designed ship.
