Sorry, I am kind of out of it, bare with me.

After playing for a little while. The game is essentially an updated port. At the core, there is very little difference from the PC version from 12 years ago. Everything has been slightly upgraded, graphics, sound, and the gameplay is surprisingly solid. Sega pulled it off flawlessly. As far as a port goes, this is one that I can honestly say is a very good one. I'll write more about the additions and such later.

Is this game worth the purchase? It is certainly worth it for the hardcore fans of the original (like myself). It's also worth it for anyone who wants to play a laid back simulation game. Like the original, a lot of time can be spent observing the sims running through the tower. Altering rental prices, etc... Funny enough, the console version feels a little more free and open than the original PC version (though I might be remembering it incorrectly since I haven't played it in about 5 years now). This version of the game also comes with a very large introduction and in game tutorial/instructions. I haven't fully explored, but the game seems to have more options, more stuff to do, than the previous version; it still maintains the simplicity feeling of the other. Like the other, you won't have to be doing something all the time, but there is always something to do.

Alright, after playing further:

Even with all the bells and whistles, the gameplay experience feels very comfortably like the old one that I used to love. I also enjoy all the new stuff. It does not at all interfere with the original gameplay experience (which is spot on perfect) and actually add to userfriendliness of the game. I should also note that FINALLY every type of structure can be removed (in the original version of the game it was kind of frustrating that once a cleaning staff center or security was built, that was it, it could not be destroyed. They can be now; that gets rid of the only real annoyance I ever remember having with the original. One interesting addition is that there is now dialogue you can view between the different "sims"

I played a few games first to get used to things. On my current game I just got my third star. Currently my building is an office building which uses no elevators (just stairs and escalators). It seems now that I will have to build elevators in order to expand further (I have gone as far above and underground as escalators allow). The third star allows a lot of my favourite tenant types (movie theatres, restaraunts -as opposed to just fast food joints,- hotel rooms, shops, subway station, etc...). It will be interesting to see how things evolve from here. I'm going to try to create a much more commercialized building. I'll experiment with phasing out offices in exchange for hotel rooms, it depends which is more profitable.

I got the only copy in town when the store opened. It will likely have a very limited release since it's essentially a port of a 13 year old game. It certainly will not be another Phoenix Wright (where Capcom severely underestimated the popularity of the title and had to release several more shipments).

Damn, if I had realized it would be THIS limited I would have reserved it. Damn damn damn damn damn damn damn.
