IGN interviewed John Tam (exec. producer over at RedOctane) who says that in addition to a practice mode (YAY!), they're modifying the co-op mode to allow the two players to play different tracks, i.e. player 1 plays lead while player 2 plays rhythm/bass (DOUBLE YAY!).

This is a happy day. Once October hits I'll have to start practicing again!

Nowadays I'm in busy (tax) season at work, so I don't have time for long-term games. So I'm playing a lot of DS stuff (on my commute) and on the weekends, when I just want to chill for a few minutes, I pick up the game and just have fun with the tracks. I've been able to pick up some 4 and 5 star songs along the way, but that takes away from the fun IMO since you have to use the star power at certain times to ensure you maximize your score and stuff.

But the game is just so much fun, I'm still playin' it almost weekly. With all the stuff they're adding to the sequel, it sounds like it should be just as fun if not more so. As long as the licenced tracks are as good as the first one, that is.

He never mentioned it, but I hope they get some old GNR stuff. To be able to play Sweet Child or Paradise City (or, for me, Sympathy for the Devil) would freakin' rule!

If Guitar Hero II had Sweet Child Of Mine, there is a nonzero chance that I would spend an entire day playing *only* Sweet Child Of Mine until I had mastered it at every level...
