Currently, there are 7 real titles announced for Guitar Hero 2:

http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/wwdnbacku ... ves_m.html

For those of you who can't click (Oracle), they are:

Black Sabbath's "War Pigs"
Butthole Surfers' "Who Was in My Room Last Night?"
KISS' "Strutter"
Rush's "YYZ"
Reverend Horton Heat's "Psychobilly Freakout"
Van Halen's "You Really Got Me"
Primus' "John the Fisherman"

They've announced 40 total licenced tracks and 15 unlicenced (house band) tracks (Drist has got one already).

So, which songs would you guys like to see as the other 33 licenced songs? Some of my picks are:

1)Eye of the Tiger by Survivor- this would be a great opening track. Like I Love Rock 'N Roll, it's easy and EVERYONE knows it thanks to Rocky
2)Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leopard - another fun and easy track
3)No Rain by Blind Melon - this is one of those songs that everyone seems to like or at least not hate and has some decent guitar work
4)Night Train by Guns 'N Roses - probably the most playable of the GNR songs and the fact it's not one of their popular ones, should be cheaper. One of my favs
5)Layla by Derek and the Dominos - the original rock version, not the slow one
6)Freebird by Lynard Skynard - the ending solo would be IMPOSSIBLE, but so much fun (and about 6 minutes long :-)
7)Sweet Child 'O Mine by Guns 'N Roses - another good one by GNR that translates well to the game even if it's not their best
8)Unforgiven by Metallica - again, one of the more playable songs from the group, but not their best
9)Thunderstruck by AC/DC - if you don't want to play this in Guitar Hero 2, you don't like rock music IMO

As you can tell, I have a slightly older weight to my songs here. Can't really think of too many newer songs that would translate well to the game. Guitar work isn't what it used to be IMO. I call it the Green Day Effect :-)

It is hard for me think of good guitar rock songs. Almost everything popular on the radio has some good guitar playing in it.

I suppose i would like to see some good 90's rock. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Live, Creed, etc.

What surprised me the most about GH was that i recognized a lot of songs that i didnt know the name or band of, so just popular recognizable songs would suit me fine.

I'd love to see some STP.

Anything Metallica would be fun, of course. :)

REALISTIC:

Judas Priest - Painkiller. This song HAS to be in GH2.

SoaD - Chop Suey! Aerials would be good too minus the tribal shit at the end.

RAtM - Kiling in the Name of (is there an 'of' in the title? Either way, awesome)

Metric - Dead Disco

Iron Maiden - Aces High

Incubus - A Certain Shade of Green or Vitamin. Has to be off SCIENCE. I like Stellar but they could have picked a dozen better choices

The Who - Pinball Wizard

NOT SO REALISTIC:

Blind Guardian - Into the Storm

Joe Walsh - In the City. Only because it's the end track to The Warriors.

Final Fantasy IV - The Four Fiends battle theme... you know the one. I don't know how well that'd translate to guitar (probably awesome) but that music rocks

Melissa Williams - You're Not Here (you know, the opening music from Silent Hill 3... and used in the credits for the movie)

The MiniBosses - Mega Man 2 montage. I'd play the whole damn thing over and over

Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames. On the "No way in hell" difficulty setting. I encourage you all to download this song or talk to me on MSN and I'll send it to you. The guitar is... unbelieveable.

And Night Train would be a good choice. But No Rain? Hell no. Everybody our age has heard that tune countless times, and it is rad, but you don't rock to it. More like drunk and stoned teenage campfire singalong fare... or maybe that was just me.

John the Fisherman is in the game? As a master track no less? I've got my wish.

Rock the Casbah by the Clash,

I was also thinking of Metric and STP for my list. For Metric I would have picked Combat Baby. For STP probably Creep or Vasoline (they're both fun guitar songs); though I'd settle for Unglued, Plush, Lady Picture Show, or Sex Type Thing. I think One by Metallica would suit that band best, it has fun guitar playing and is one of their most popular songs. Rage Against the Machine, I agree with Killin' in the name, they have a lot of really good guitar songs that I would put on there from Evil Empire and the Self Titled album.

As far as the Ramones, I am definatelty not a fan, I hated it every time I had to listen to that "I wanna be Sedated" song while playing the game. Clash and Sex Pistols were WAY better =)

Bohemian Rhapsody. Duh. Who doesn't want to rock out to that song?

I was pleased to see Bad Religion represented, but I would have chosen a few dozen songs over Infected.

Already had them in the original, so I doubt they'll be in the sequel

I'll second that. Playing Cream's version of Layla would be like a dream.

Of course Clash is pop, they're on one of BMG's record labels.

Anyways, I would love to see Guitar Hero volumes dedicated to time periods. Perhaps a New Wave era volume and a Grunge era volume.

They're planning theme packs, so I'm sure you'll see stuff like that. At the very least ones like Country, Retro, Metal, etc.

Layla would rule and would be HARD

I would guess the Black Mages (Uematsu's rock band that interprets Final Fantasy music) have a version of the Four Fiends theme, I know for sure they have at least one or two battle themes in their repertoire. That would probably be fun.

I tend to agree about No Rain, however, unless they release "Stoner Hero" or somewhat. A lot of the fun of Guitar Hero for me is rocking the power ballads, and while I'm sure I can think of a song that's more of an *anti*-power-ballad than No Rain, I can't seem to do it offhand...I wouldn't have a problem with it being included, but I bet a lot of people would. Way too risky.

Isn't Layla essentially just something like A, D, A, open D, D power, C, B flat, G over and over again for 10 minutes?

I was going to give you a chance to delete those extra four posts, but it's been three days...

Whatever the chords are in Layla, the point is it's FAST. Fast like gulping a handful of amphetamines - which is generally the way Cream played their gigs, as I understand it.

Speaking as someone who had a (brief and completely over) flirtation with methamphetamines last year, I can definitely say that gives one at least a short-term advantage...

Three new songs announced for Guitar Hero 2:

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/721/721965p1.html

For Oracle and others who are just lazy, they are:

Stone Temple Pilots' "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart"
Anthrax's "Madhouse"
Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil"

Retro goodness. Woot!

Ah, I was actually hoping for an older STP song, from Core or Purple. This will do though =P
