If this is the case, you can almost expect the Wii to be priced at $250 US IMO. Although it would be extremely smart of them to price it at $200 and really take advantage of the market and make $250 a Wii Sports-Virtual Controller bundle

I expect $199, that is a standard console launch price. I was hoping for 150 though, but they're only launching with 4 million units, and 6 million after Christmas, if this system is anything like the DS Lite in popularity, that won't be enough =P

"Hi, Mr. Consumer. We here at Microsoft will be significantly dropping the retail price of our product to counter the launches of our competitors. Please do not purchase our product until then..."

Actually, I do remember both Nintendo and Microsoft speaking about how the worst thing going on in the videogame industry are price drops; "Hmmmm, the price of this game is 60 bucks now, give it 8-12 months and it will be 20, I can wait that long." Both of those companies seem interested in setting a price standard. Now it's all a matter of how third parties and Sony want to do things.

Yeah, Miyamoto was quoted saying something like that.

This is the other way around. They denying the drop, the companies usually just don't say anything at all if it's a possibility. Look at all the rumoured price drops in the past. Usually the companies just didn't say squat. You didn't see reports denying the drop.
This one is just a blog, though, so at the end of the day, it means nothing. I was just hypothesizing. Besides, after the Xbox guy said "buy a 360 and a Wii, it's better than getting a PS3", I don't think they're considering the Wii to be a direct competitor.

I just hope Nintendo takes into account the current US-to-Canadian dollar exchange rate, which Microsoft is not doing with the 360 ($400 and $500, or roughly $40 more for the core and $50 more for the good one after exchange).
We're taking the shaft like Ish at a NAMBLA convention!

The XBoX 360 costs $399 at Futureshop for the CORE system. The Core system at BestBuy.com is $299. I hate that bullshit. Our dollar is nearly matching the US dollar.
EDIT: Damn you Seeker, I still know your post existed! I SAW IT!
Seeker : "Xbox 360 costs $399 in both Canada and the US. At least at Futureshop, there's no longer an exchange rate."

Yeah I deleted it when I saw that the $399 system was the core system. Now I know what Europeans feel like. Somehow Microsoft thinks that $399 USD = €399 (actually that's more around $520 USD).

Even more proof that prices are based on demand and nothing else.
Sony has already said the exchange equivalent is 10% for its system, so it's starting to shift a bit. And if you look at the DS Lite price, it's what, $130 in the US and $150 here? So I have a bit of hope.
