  • Some new Wii accessory and VC pricing info

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Price cards are 1000, 3000, and 5000 yen, the 5000 yen one comes with a free classic controller.

The Wii memory cards cost 3800 yen, or about 30 USD. These ones hold half a Gigabyte. I think it is safe to assume that the larger ones won't be available until later, I think I heard in an interview that the largest ones will hold 8 Gigabytes. Likely some third party will come along and get the large ones out long before Nintendo does.

Are these memory cards or SD cards with the Nintendo logo on them?

They are SD memory cards, as far as I know. The smallest size is 512 megabytes, and the largest is 8 gigabytes. This probably isn't something that anyone here is going to need to buy for quite a while after purchasing the system; I doubt that we're going to be filling up the whole internal drive with MP3s, videos, and photos; might have a few on there, but no more than necessary.

EDIT: Actually IGN updated witht he information:

"This 512MB memory card is functionally equivalent to a standard SD memory card, but has the Nintendo and Wii logos. Pricing is set at 3,800 yen."

So I guess there should be no problems getting however high a density that is required. The prices I have seen are the 2GB ones at 45 dollars, and the 8GB ones at 230 dollars. I am sure by the time that I need one at least, that those prices will have fallen.

Normal SD cards. Basically, there's no reason to get a Nintendo-branded one for $30US when you can get a regular one for $25 Cdn. Places like Best Buy and Futureshop have deals on them all the time

Yeah, that's why I was asking. Nowadays you can get a good name brand SD card for around $20 for 1GB easily if you watch for a good deal.
