Those screen shots look a lot like the 50's and 60's style anime that some of us grew up on in the 80's here in North America =P,
It brings back fond memories, I really like the graphics. The description of the game is also something that I can't resist.

Level 5, developer of Dragon Quest VIII, announced an original Nintendo DS adventure game called Layton Kyouju no Fushigina Machi [Professor Layton & the Mystery Town], the story takes place in a fantasy town, there will be puzzle solving, edutainment and adventure elements. In the game Professor Layton and his assistant Luke will try to solve a series of well-known mysteries/incidents.
